Domenica 17 febbraio sono stati assegnati i premi conferiti dal sindacato degli sceneggiatori (Writers Guild Awards).
A sorpresa – ma non troppo per chi ha visto il film – è stato Bo Burnham ad aggiudicarsi il premio come miglior sceneggiatura originale per Eighth Grade, film non preso in considerazione per la corsa agli oscar. Il premio per il migliore adattamento va Nicole Holofcener e Jeff Whitty per Can You Ever Forgive Me?
