La 96esima cerimonia degli Academy Awards segna il trionfo di Christopher Nolan e del suo Oppenheimer grazie al quale porta a casa sette vittorie, incluse quelle nelle categorie più ambite e prestigiose: miglior film, regia, attore protagonista (Cillian Murphy) e attore non protagonista per un Robert Downey Jr. che grazie a Oppenheimer può finalmente ricordare al mondo che lui non è Tony Stark, ma l’attore che lo interpreta. Nolan era stato nominato già sette volte.
Sette è un numero che ricorre anche per Emma Stone che, a distanza di sette anni dalla sua vittoria per La La Land (2017), vince come miglior attrice protagonista per Poor Things (ne abbiamo parlato qui) che porta a casa altre tre statuette per Production Design, Make Up e Costume. Nessuna sorpresa, quindi, per la sua vittoria preceduta da altre acclamazioni (Golden Globe, Bafta, Critics’ Choice Awards), anche se c’era la curiosità di scoprire se Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon) sarebbe riuscita ad essere la prima nativa americana a vincere un oscar nella categoria migliore attrice.
Maestro, che non ha mai dato l’idea di poter essere la concorrenza da battere né per Poor Things, né tantomeno per la corazzata Oppenheimer resta a bocca asciutta. Per quanto riguarda Barbie (ne abbiamo parlato qui), dopo l’accesa contestazione per la mancata candidatura sia per la regista Greta Gerwig che per l’attrice protagonista Margot Robbie, va la statuetta per la canzone originale di Billie Eilish, What Was I Made For?, una vittoria che a questo punto cade sul confine tra il meglio di niente e il premio di consolazione.
The Holdovers è arrivato agli oscar sotto i riflettori per via delle accuse di plagio che gli sono state mosse contro, ma torna a casa sereno e pacifico con la vittoria Da’vine Joy Randolph quale attrice non protagonista.
Prevedibilmente nella categoria miglior film straniero vince The Zone of Interest, ma per Garrone è comunque un bel riconoscimento essere arrivato fin là.
